Summer is now in full swing, and at Klein Dentistry in Grandville, Michigan, we know that there are a lot of events being held that are family-friendly, fun, and completely affordable right here in our community.
From walking around the local farmer’s market to taking in the festivities of the annual Fourth of July super celebration, those warm summer days and nights are sure to be filled with memories that will last a lifetime!
Located along the shores of the Grand River, about 10 minutes southwest of downtown Grand Rapids, Grandville offers up parks, miles of hiking and biking trails, and is home to activities like holiday parades, fireworks displays, and family fun. Here are a few things to put on your summer bucket list!
Open every Tuesday (June – mid October) from 8:00 am – 1:00 pm
The Market is held in the heart of downtown Grandville, in the parking lot next to the library, and is in its seventh year providing a venue for local growers to sell their produce and other seasonal goods. Complimentary coffee and bagels are even served to Market visitors!
The Market offers a variety of seasonal goods that includes flowers, hanging baskets, herbs, perennial plants, produce from Great Bread Company, Kettle Corn Dorothy and Toto, fudge, and Amish Michigan made cheese.

What’s more fun for the family than a magic show? Held at the Kent District Library – Grandville Branch on Maple Street, it’s a family-friendly hilarious magic show filled with live animals, audience participation, and — you guessed it — amazing magic! And while you’re there, take the time to check out a few books to read during those long summer days.

As part of the City of Grandville Fourth of July celebrations, the Visser Family YMCA Buck Creek Run began in 1974 as a way to add a healthy event to the holiday events and get people active. The 5K course winds around the neighborhoods of Grandville and ends at the Grandville Middle School. It costs $35 to register, although a Kid’s Dash is offered at no cost. And it’s all for a good cause! Proceeds from the Buck Creek Run provide scholarships for the Visser Family YMCA Impact Achievers Program — an afterschool program for Grandville, Jenison, and Hudsonville middle-school students.
June 29 – July 4
The Grandville Fourth of July Celebration is organized by the Grandville Parks and Recreation Board to celebrate our nation’s independence, and spans from Saturday, June 29, to Thursday, July 4. The variety of events and activities include a 5K run/walk, free yoga, a pancake breakfast, arts and crafts show, chainsaw carving, a parade, cornhole tournaments, food booths, vendors, the Penny Carnival, inflatables, a bike rodeo, and — of course — fireworks on July 4!
July 13 and Aug. 10 11am – 12pm
Held at JCPenney in Rivertown Crossings Mall, this is a great event that offers activities for the kids that include an ID badge, a lanyard, and collector’s pins. Plus, parents get coupons for 10% off merchandise the day of the event. On July 13, kids can color a fun back-to-school pencil pouch from IZOD, and on Aug. 10 they can make a cool Nerf target board.

Held on Chicago Drive between Wilson and Washington, this festival features live music, a classic car show, food booths, carnival games, dunk tank, pie eating contest, pet fashion show, cornhole tournament, Elvis impersonators, vintage tractors, vendors, and more!
