The first step is to meet with your dentist so you can discuss your treatment goals. They will then use a shade guide to select the composite resin color that matches the color of the tooth, or teeth, most closely.
Once the shade is chosen, your dentist will slightly etch the surface of the tooth to roughen it and a conditioning liquid applied that helps the bonding material adhere. Next the tooth-colored, putty-like resin is applied, molded, and smoothed until it’s the proper shape. Then the material is hardened with
a high-intensity blue halogen light.
Once the bonding material hardens, your dentist will further trim and shape it, and polish the material until it matches the color of the rest of the tooth surface. The entire process takes between 30 and 60 minutes per tooth to complete.
